Confidence and a Journey | Priscilla Baierlein Photography {Lexington, KY Photographer}

It was effortless. She was a natural. She was confident in her own skin, while still being a little shy to be in front of the camera. She made my job easy, while also making my job hard (because I could NOT narrow the images down). L just graduated college and I realized this may be one of my favorite times to capture. The confidence. The excitement. Not knowing what the near future holds, but being the optimistic dreamer of what lies ahead. I remember the first few days of my very first post-college job and how excited I was (actually…I think I kept saying over and over again that I was “so excited”). Little did I know that just 5 years later I would be doing something that I didn’t even go to college for and that I would love more than I could ever love any other job. Crazy where life takes us, but it’s so important it takes us where it does. I wouldn’t be the person I am if it weren’t for those jobs I had between college and photography.

I cannot wait to see where it takes L. It may not be the direction she imagined it going. It may be exactly the way she imagined it. Either way, it will be the perfect journey for her…

As I’m sitting here waiting on the storms to blow through and eating snacks I probably shouldn’t be, I thought there wouldn’t be a better time to sit and start catching up on my blog! Does it feel like a never ending battle for me? I swear, one of these days, I will once again be a regular blogger. It’s going to happen. Predicting when would probably go about like the end of the world predictions from this past Saturday, but it will happen. Positive affirmations anyone?

Oh…sigh…my “ginger duo” is gone. My beautiful interns graduated and are moving on to bigger things. I already blogged a little about O and mentioned C. As promised, here are a few more images from C’s session. These make me happy because they really show her personality. She always has a way to make you laugh. I tried to get her to wear her shoes with the writing all over them, but I failed. I think we may have managed to get that personality in there, even without the shoes! lol.

A little fist pump never hurt any one…

Her faith always shines through and she’s not afraid to show it…

BIG Schedule Update! Only a limited number of sessions available!

Remember that time going by too fast thing that I talked about a couple posts ago? Well, I had every intention of blogging about my schedule in March and other things became more important. A couple days ago I was talking with someone about everything and it dawned on me…I have just over 2 MONTHS before I go on maternity leave!!! And one of those months we’re taking a 1 1/2 week vacation to FL. Even more importantly, I only have a very limited number of spots still available before I go on maternity leave!!! Wow! So, here’s a run down of what’s still available…

* APRIL 30th- Mini sessions were rescheduled to this Saturday and a spot opened up with others moving to a different date (confusing?). So, if you happen to be free and interested in a mini session this Saturday morning at Boyd’s Orchard, please let me know and we can reserve your spot.

* MAY SIGNATURE SESSIONS- Only 3 spots available!

I know talking about the holidays before the summer has even started is just crazy, but if you’d like to book a holiday session, it may be smart to start thinking early! Yes, I am already booking for rest of the year! Crazy!!!!

Now, since I can’t post this without a pretty picture and since the other beautiful half of my “ginger duo” is dying for a sneak peek…and I’m dying for her to see a couple…here’s a quick little peek! More to come later!

Have I ever mentioned I LOVE photographing red heads? Especially those who intern for me! Even better when we are at an amazing farm with tons of warm tones. 2010 Slideshow and a BIG Surprise

I’m back! Like really back. Not just hopping in to tease you. I know…you’ve been so worried. Right?

So, what’s been going on in 2011? After some much needed time off for the holidays, I’m currently working on some left over 2010 orders, a wedding from 2010, and then all of my exciting new things for 2011. I can’t wait to share all the locations for the mini sessions this year! Soon…very soon.

I promise there will lots of fun things to share and write soon, but first I have to share something I’m EXTREMELY excited about. Drum roll please….

I’ve gone through and picked my favorites of my favorite images (please note that not ALL of my sessions are represented. Not even all of my favorites! Trust me…that was hard.) throughout the year and put a fun little slideshow together. Oh, but this is no ordinary slideshow. This slideshow is very very very special. VERY. Hidden in this slideshow, at the very end, is a big SURPRISE. A HUGE SURPRISE. Like if you miss out on this, you will be the lady in the store that snubbed Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman and I’ll be saying you made a big mistake…BIG…HUGE. Yes…I know it’s a stretch, but I just keep hearing Julia Roberts in my head saying “Big. Huge”.

Well, all I can say is that I absolutely LOVE senior sessions. This was the perfect session. One of the things I loved about J is that he’s not only keeping a good head on his shoulders, but is also keeping his dream alive. Plans to go to school for engineering and music. Love that! Talking about maximizing the use of BOTH sides of your brain! Now that’s talent.

We shot until the sun was gone. Of course because I’m just THAT much fun to be around. Or maybe because I can’t stop shooting and take tons of pictures. Ah…we’ll go with the first one.

I know I said it over and over again during her session, but Miss A has the most beautiful eyes. Soulful and kind. I know she was nervous and probably thought I was crazy on more than one occasion that evening, but she was an amazing model. You know…one of those “kids” who you know has it together and who will accomplish anything she wants in life. I can’t wait to see what she does, where she goes, the woman she becomes.

(As mentioned in my last post, in order to attempt to keep up with everything, I’m trying to keep the blog images down to a minimum. And yes…I’m still pouting.)

Holiday Update and New Petite Sessions | Priscilla Baierlein Photography

Seriously? Fall is right around the corner? How did that happen? It seems like just yesterday it was January. Wow! This blog entry has been planned for a while, but as you can tell, this has snuck up on me…even though my mind has been on the holiday season for months. I have to say, I am quite excited for this fall. Not only because I will get to see tons of clients that I haven’t seen since last year, but also because of the feeling I have in the fall. Yes…the feeling. I am always so nostalgic in the fall. It’s something about the coolness in the air, the sweaters on my arms, the boots on my feet, pumpkins, mums, Trick-or-Treaters, football season, chili with tons of crackers and cheese (oh yum…chili…I want it now), the trees with all their beautiful colors, my list could go on for days. For some reason fall reminds me of home. It is home.

First a schedule update for those of you who don’t already know what’s going on.

Sessions after October will not be guranteed orders in time for the holidays. However, for the November minis, you may receive your cd JUST before Christmas.

Love and Laughter | Priscilla Baierlein Photography {Harrodsburg, KY Senior Photographer}

Well…I’m just going to say that I know…I’ve gone overboard…I am in love with this entire session. Forgive me for posting a million photos. I absolutely couldn’t stop myself.

I was on the phone with someone just yesterday and we were talking about senior sessions. I said that I love senior sessions and that I can usually put them at ease because I’m on their level. I giggled and said “I’m not sure what that says about my maturity.” After all…I am ancient now…I turned 30 this summer.

Yes…I say it a lot…I LOVE my clients. I know. But I do. E was so easy to get along with and we truly did hit it off immediately. I so enjoyed driving around Harrodsburg looking at locations with her family. They put so much thought into it, but at the same time gave me complete artistic freedom. Even better when E didn’t cringe when I said that I wanted to shoot at the old warehouse. She actually liked the idea as much as I did! She wanted something different. I think we accomplished that…

The part she was most excited about. She was actually braver than I was. I was scared of snakes. I’m terrified of snakes. Reason number one why I need to start carrying rain boots with me. Preferably cute polka dotted ones.

Woops…messed up the sizing. I’m pretty sure you all are paying attention to how gorgeous she looks anyhow…

Ninja | Priscilla Baierlein Photography {KY Senior Photographer}

If you have ever been to the “senior” section of the galleries on my website, you will notice that there is only one senior on there. My very first senior. I told her at the time that she would be all over my website, little did we know that she would be there for at least a couple years! Yes…I’m a slacker. I haven’t updated my senior gallery in two years!

What does this have to do with one of my most recent seniors? It’s his beautiful sister! I was beyond thrilled when I read a comment on the business facebook page saying that I had done his sister’s senior pictures and would be doing his! Adore his family…and quickly learned that I adore him as well. We had a blast walking up and down Bardstown Rd. I’m pretty sure he either thought I was hilarious or crazy. Either way, he laughed. Maybe the awkward “this woman has lost it” laugh, but laughs none the less. I think it all got a little out of hand when I called myself a ninja. Don’t worry I stopped dead in my tracks and said “yes…I just called myself a ninja”. Internet world…I was embarrassed…I called myself a ninja. Who does that? I make funny noises for little kiddos, I call myself a ninja for teens. All in a days work.

Back to the important one here….You know my heart was stolen when he said he LOVED photography. Seriously such a sweetie. He even helped a lady change a bike tire during his session. Didn’t even complain about it afterwards. Not even after we walked away.

These were instantly my favs. Even the one completely out of focus. Oh…maybe it’s because this is when I called myself a Ninja.

And this one…I just couldn’t bare putting with another photo.

He wasn’t even too embarrassed to look like a big geek with me. Yes…we looked like two folks standing on Bardstown Rd. taking pictures of each other.

This next picture is as random as a chicken on Bardstown Rd….because that’s what it was.
