Oh joy. I’ve been photographing this family since before Mr. P man was even born and now he’s getting ready to go to preschool. They have since became close friends of ours and momma played a huge roll in mine and Steffen’s nursing success (even spending the night with us to help me figure out what was going on with our middle of the night feedings…now THAT’S a dedicated friend), and was there for me exactly when I needed her with advice, a meal, and an ear to listen.
We all fell in love with the field behind their house when P was just a baby and have been shooting there since. The light as the sunsets is simply breathtaking, as is the view. We briefly mentioned doing the session in the morning and not focusing on the field, but boy am I glad that plan didn’t happen. Everything ended up being absolutely perfect. We started off warming the kids up with some play time in the back yard (which turns out they didn’t even need any warm up time), then a quick snack to capture the every day, and then on to hanging out in the field. My favorite moments were when momma was just sitting over on a blanket singing “Herman the Warm” with P and didn’t even realize I was photographing them. Not to mention the cuddles P and SB gave under the blankets with me peeking in. Or Daddy helping P do his favorite thing, golf. Okay…I have a lot of favorite moments. The thing that I loved, was that most of it was just them being…them. Sure they may not hang out in the field every day, but hanging out, singing, cuddling, I know they do every day. I could never express how precious a gift it is to be allowed into my clients, my friends, every days. That’s what I want from every session. That’s what I’m searching for.
I have to start out with P’s “moves like Jagger”. Seriously? Love him!

I have to admit…I pay extra special close attention to momma and baby connections. Mommas are always behind the cameras. Or is that just me?
The picture on the right is completely blurry and completely perfect. It is certainly one of my absolute favorites.
